Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 is an online, FPS, multiplayer, military shooter game that offers an infantry-only combat experience based on the well-remembered campaign set in the 60’s during the cold and Vietnam war. The online multiplayer maps ae based on this setting and makes for a beautiful game.
Campaign
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 campaign is the first introduction to the Black Ops series — and it landed very well people. People loved the story so much that it still rings through to this day. It was like this because the characters were very likable, such as Frank Woods, Viktor Reznov — and most importantly — Alex mason. These were characters with interesting stores and behaviours creating an immersive world that captures the players attention and want to keep on playing. But it wasn’t just that; it was the well-crafted storyline and plot twists the game shocks you with that makes it memorable.

Multiplayer
The multiplayer is a classic 6V6 multiplayer game focusing on the infantry-only combat utilising gadgets and weaponry to a players advantage, whether that’s pistols, SMG’s, assault rifles, sniper rifles or gadgets like RPG’s to claymores.
The maps were interesting and had great game flow utilising intelligent map design that allows for balanced team spawns, interesting flanking routes and occasionally dynamic situations, such as rocket taking off in the middle of the map. Is this just a feeling of nostalgia or intelligent map design? I’m not sure; It’s probably both.
The multiplayer not only has 6V6 competitive game modes; It also has a zombies mode where you have to survive waves of zombies as long as possible and upgrade your characters’ abilities through vending machines and weaponry through A pack-a-punch machine. This COD (Call of Duty) game introduced us to the the now classic Kino Der Toten map, which has been remade in later titles because of how popular it was. Later on, DLC’s were released allowing players to go to the moon which added a whole knew feel to the game. It was, and is, a very good game that tickles every nostalgic COD fan boy.

The snowy landscape of a snowy, abandoned base.
Zombies: Kino Der Toten
The first zombie map on Black Ops 1. This is a classic fan favourite.
Zombies: Moon
A zombie map on the moon in spacesuits. This was a game-changer.
Zombies: Five
A zombie map located in the Pentagon (USA secret service building).
